Now, I don’t normally include any data analysis in the Data Dump, but produced an article this week discussing how the streaming landscape is getting more competitive.
I wanted to showcase this awesome graphic showcasing the service rankings based on service by year.
Data Dump Disclaimer:
This newsletter features streaming data sourced from a range of market-research firms, including JustWatch, Luminate, Nielsen, SambaTV, and others. Unless otherwise noted, the metrics reflect the U.S. market, while also analyzing self-reported statistics from media/tech conglomerates.
Luminate: Total minutes viewed on the TV panel from Friday to Thursday.
Nielsen: Total minutes viewed on the TV panel from Monday to Sunday, plus data from smart TV and top-box third-party producers; Comcast, DirecTV, Dish, Roku and Vizio.
SambaTV: US Households during the first _ days after release.
We’re no longer including measurements and rankings from JustWatch. We saw their Top 10 Movies on Streaming in 2025 and it’s horrid, not a company with valid measurements.
